Who is your God?.....Asked the surprised doctor, Harmesh Khurana, as he ran through the test reports of his 21-year-old breast Cancer patient, Neetu. You are all right; he congratulated her while declaring the incident as a miracle. Her smiling patient had a ready answer, "We believe in Jesus. " Dr Khurana paused for a moment and then said, "Your God has saved you. " Indeed.
The report of Neetu's having Cancer came when she was admitted in the civil hospital in Ferozpur district of Punjab in March 2005. She was nine month pregnant and the doctors were expecting a normal delivery. Until then, nobody knew that Neetu had a serious problem. As she was in her hometown, her parents and siblings were in the hospital and were excited to see her first baby. Her mother-in-law, Martha also came all the way from district Moga, to be with her while husband, Johnson, stayed back home due to some work. article
To mention here about Martha, she was a god fearing lady and had tremendous faith in Jesus. Though her husband died of heart attack four years ago, she remained quiet. She faced a lot of financial problem but remained steadfast in her faith and looked after her five children. She chose Neetu for Johnson, her fourth child, and in March 2004 solemnized the marriage. Neetu was from a non-Christian family and she had just heard about Jesus. But Martha loved her and would always share the word of God, encouraging her to accept Him as the Savior.
On the other hand, Neetu's elder brother, Narender, came in touch with CFI Pastor Victor Masih and befriended him. Pastor Victor would always tell him about Jesus, His love and His sacrifice on Cross for the mankind. God opened Narender's heart and he accepted Jesus as personal savior in February 2005. He started attending CFI church meetings at Pastor Victor's residence.
In March 2005, when Neetu was in hospital to give birth, something went wrong and she developed complications. The child would not come out. Neetu's condition started to worsen. The nurses got panicky and started preparing for emergency operation. Learning the problem, Martha came inside, knelt down and prayed to God committing Neetu in His hand and claiming His power of resurrection. Assured, she got up, called the nurse and asked her to press Neetu gently. Confused, she obliged and within minutes a healthy baby girl came out.
After delivery, when the doctors checked Neetu, to their horror, half of her body was found to be with pus even as thick yellowish liquid oozed out of breasts. Tests were carried out and the reports indicated something scary- Neetu had breast Cancer! The doctors informed that to save Neetu, her stomach would be cut open to take out the pus and if need be, her right breast would be removed. The new-born baby child was separated from mother to be bottle fed. It was like pressing the panic button and a sudden gloom descended upon Neetu's family members. Neetu herself was speechless.
But Martha expressed faith in Jesus, comforted everyone and committed Neetu in His loving hand. Narender, who was new in faith, rushed to Pastor Victor Masih with the sad news. Learning about Neetu, Pastor Victor knelt down with Narender and thanked God for his grace and mercy. He asked God to enlighten Neetu and be with her. After prayer he went to the hospital and met Neetu, spoke encouraging words and finally shared Gospel. He asked her to repent from her sins and ask for His forgiveness with a willing heart. Neetu did not delay and after inviting Jesus, she felt peace in heart. Pastor Victor asked her to have complete faith in Jesus and rejoice in Him in every circumstance.
Meanwhile, Pastor Victor Masih and six-seven believers from CFI church fasted for a week and prayed for Neetu with one accord.
Neetu left hospital and came to her parents" house where her treatment continued. Meanwhile, the doctors put Neetu on medicine and fixed a date for operation. However, they were of the opinion that chances of her recovery were slim as the pus was decaying the body. But the prayers of all the believers reached heaven and God responded by giving His healing touch.
To the surprise of doctors, Neetu started recovering. Her putrefied body slowly became normal and the breasts started producing normal milk. It was indeed a miracle and those who came to know this, just marveled. After three months, Neetu started breast feeding her baby. She went to Pastor Victor Masih's church and gave her testimony. This incident taught her to pray which she would not do earlier. Her husband, Johnson, a nominal Christian acknowledged the healing power of Jesus by giving Him thanks. This incident was a cause of blessing to many believers. Neetu's parents now believe in Jesus. Blessed be His name forever. Amen. |
