In many unreached nations women remain the most disadvantaged members of the population. They frequently comprise the largest proportion living in absolute poverty. For example, in North India, 60% are illiterate (compared to 36% of men), domestic violence is a prevalent danger for many and they lack access to financial resources and assistance.

Empart is making a difference among these women through the Sew & Sow Project, a project run through tailoring centres that are organised by the local church.

With the ability to generate an income, these women have a new dignity and status in the community, along with the security of knowing that they can provide for themselves and their children.

As important as this is, the greatest gift these women receive is the good news of Jesus Christ. Before each tailoring lesson, a short devotional is given. For most, it is the first time they have heard of a God who loves them, and many have responded to that love.

$125 will provide a 6-month training program and a sewing machine for a needy woman in India.
